For the sponge cake you will need the following:
Ingredients
-175g self-raising flour
-175g Softened unsalted Butter
-175g Caster Sugar
-3 Eggs
-1 and a 1/2s teaspoons of Baking powder
- 40ml of whole Milk
- 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla extract
Method
-Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius
-Cream the butter sugar and vanilla extract together
-then add the eggs one after another till they are fully incorporated
- Mix the self-raising flour and baking powder together and then sift it into the wet mixture
-then add the milk
-Split the mixture equally into three lined tins with and bake for 20 minutes
-Leave to cool thoroughly
Buttercream Ingredients
-250g of Softened unsalted butter
- 375g of Icing sugar
-1teaspoon of Vanilla extract
- Food Colouring of your choice
Method
- Beat the butter using your paddle attachment for between 5-8mins until it becomes pale
- Sieve the icing sugar
- Next add the icing sugar one table spoon at a time and then add the vanilla extract.
- Finally and food gel coloring of your choice
To frost the cake
-First fill between the layers of the cake and then do a crumb coat
-Next refrigerate for at least an hour
-Then using a 1M Wilton star tip pipe rosettes around the sides and on top of the cake.Do as if you are writing the letter "e" this will make it easier to pipe.
-Finally use silver pearl balls to decorate.
