Hello Cupcakes, today is all about double cleansing.
Double cleansing has really taken off in recent times and if you are not double cleansing you are behind in skin care trends.Incorporating double cleansing into your skincare routine will really transform your skin and give you a nice glow.
What is double cleansing?
It is cleansing your face twice,literally.The first cleanse is to remove your make-up and then the second cleanse is to clean your skin. We spend a bit of time putting on our creams,moisturizers,SPF lotions and then make-up, because of this we should also ensure we spend time removing every bit of make-up,environmental pollution and grime on our face before we go to bed, this is the bed rock of clean and clear skin.Most times after cleansing your face once, you realize that when you run toner on a cotton pad on your face you still get streaks of dirt,this shows your face has not been properly cleansed.

There is a lot of material online about using an oil based cleanser for the your first cleanse and then a cream based cleanser for your second cleanse.The really important thing is too double cleanse, you can actually use the same cleanser twice.Some people use a gel cleanser and then a cream cleanser.
For those with oily/acne-prone skin you have to be careful when deciding to use an oil based cleanser as they can clog your pores and cause black/white heads.I have oily/acne-prone skin and any form of oil/butter in a cleanser will cause break-outs on my skin.Hence I use a gel cleanser;

How to double cleanse
To double cleanse, apply your cleanser directly on your face with clean hands.Do not wet face with water before hand but apply the cleanser directly to your face and massage in circular motions to dislodge make-up,massage for like two minutes and then use a warm face cloth (sometimes called a flannel) to clean off all the now dissolved make up.Remember the first cleanse it to remove make-up.Next step is the second cleanse which is to clean the skin,apply your second cleanser directly to the face and massage in circular motions and then using a warm clean face cloth clean your face until all traces of cleanser is gone and then as a final step rinse your face with cold water to close your pores and that's it.Follow up with a toner .
Double cleansing should be done at night at the end of the day,for a morning routine just cleanse once as you are waking up from sleep and do not have any make-up on.
