Japanese princess to renounce title in order to marry a commoner

25 year old  Princess Mako of Aikshino is officially engaged to marry law firm employee and graduate student Kei Kumuro. Princess Mako is the oldest grandchild of Emperor Aikihito and empress Michiko.By Japanese law by marrying a commoner she will have leave the imperial family and give up her royal status.

The princess will not be the first to do this as several female  members of the Japanese royal family have done this for love including most recently her aunt Sarako Kuroda who cut ties with the family after marrying a commoner Yoshiki Kuroda in 2005.
